In a Saturday New York Post interview, President Donald Trump verified that petroleum seized from Venezuela-associated vessels is currently being refined at facilities across the United States.
“Let’s put it this way — they don’t have any oil. We take the oil,” Trump told the newspaper.
According to Trump, the appropriated crude is being processed at several sites, with Houston mentioned specifically.
U.S. armed forces have captured seven Venezuela-connected oil tankers during Trump’s four-week initiative to regulate Venezuelan petroleum shipments.
Trump announced Tuesday that his government had extracted 50 million barrels of crude from Venezuela’s possession and was putting some volume up for sale on international markets.
